A quick walkthrough of copying into slots, letting the local AI rewrite it, and talking instead of typing.

Copy, transform, dictate — the whole loop, start to finish.

Three steps. That's the whole thing

CopyCat sits in your menu bar. You never have to switch to it.

1

Copy to a slot

Select anything, then press your copy shortcut plus a number.

2

The AI rewrites it

If that slot has a prompt, it runs automatically — on your own machine.

3

Paste it anywhere

Same number, plus Shift. Works in every app you use.

+++1

Simple, but powerful

Every screen below is the actual app — no mockups.

Prompts

Teach a slot what to do

Write a prompt once, assign it to a number, and everything you copy into that slot comes out transformed — summarized, translated, rewritten, or drafted into an email.

Bring your own prompts, edit them any time
One prompt per slot, up to ten at once
Copy an image into a Background Remover slot to get it back transparent

Dictation

Hold a key and just talk

Hold the Globe key, say what you mean, let go — your words are typed straight into whatever app you're in. Recognition runs on your machine, so it works offline and never becomes training data.

Hold-to-talk, or a hands-free session
Optional AI polish strips the "um"s and fixes punctuation
Dictate into a slot to run its prompt on what you said

Local AI

Pick your model. Nothing leaves.

CopyCat ships with its own inference engine. Choose a featherweight model for instant rewrites or a bigger one for better writing — download it once, then work on a plane if you like.

Shortcuts

Your keys, your combos

Every shortcut is yours to change — copy, paste, the HUD, clear-all, even screen capture. CopyCat catches conflicts with other apps instead of silently failing.

Pick any modifier set; numbers 1–0 target the slots
Changes apply immediately, no restart

The HUD

See what you're carrying

A floating panel shows every filled slot at a glance, then gets out of the way. Put it in any corner, pick its style and accent, or leave it up all day.

What early users say

CopyCat is in beta — these are notes from the first testers.

"I stopped losing the thing I copied two copies ago. That alone was worth it."

"The dictation is the part I didn't expect to love. It types faster than I do and none of it leaves my laptop."

Questions

Does the AI really run offline?

Yes. CopyCat bundles its own inference engine and downloads a model file once, from inside the app. After that, transforms and dictation work with your Wi-Fi switched off. There's no API key and no per-request cost.

How much disk space does it need?

The app is small; the models are your choice. A fast 0.5B text model is about 400 MB, the balanced default around 1 GB, and the English speech model 488 MB. Download only what you actually use.

Why does it need Accessibility permission?

CopyCat presses ⌘C and ⌘V for you and listens for your shortcuts — macOS puts both behind Accessibility. It's the same permission every clipboard and text-expansion tool asks for, and it's used for nothing else.

Is it on the Mac App Store?

No — and it can't be. App Store apps run sandboxed, which blocks the keystroke simulation that copy-to-slot and paste-from-slot depend on. Buying direct is the only way to get the full version, the same reason Alfred, Raycast and CleanShot sell direct too.

How many machines can I use it on?

The computers you personally work on. There's no license server counting them.

Give your clipboard a memory.
